Towards a common strategy for land subsidence in the northern Manila Bay area

The First International Land Subsidence Symposium in the Philippines will gather international and
national scientists, experts, practitioners, and decision-makers in Manila for a multi-day event. Beyond
exchanging knowledge and fostering global learning and collaboration, the program includes a full-day field trip to North Manila Bay, highlighting the alarming impacts of accelerating land subsidence—exceeding 10 cm/yr in some areas—which increasingly exposes communities to flooding and tidal inundation.
